Hope you all had a Miami Dolphin in your lineups last week. The 70-point explosion had plenty of fantasy goodness to go around. While it’s very likely that outburst represents the best offensive game they’ll have all year, and the opponent will be tougher this week in Buffalo, you don’t want to take a chance on leaving those kinds of numbers on your bench. So keep those Fins in your lineups. This is going to be a fun offense all year long.
Some other start/sit recommendations for Week 4:
QB:
Starts:
Geno Smith, Seahawks: After a miserable opening week, he’s thrown for 296 yards or more in each of his last two games and the Giants defense hasn’t exactly been a house of horrors.
Russell Wilson, Broncos: Yes, it’s been an ugly start to the season. But Wilson has quietly thrown for over 300 yards in each of the last three weeks – although practically the entire game against the Dolphins last week was garbage time. This week he gets the Bears and their turnstile secondary. Russ will still have a few days to cook this season. This figures to be one of them.
Sits:
Matthew Stafford, Rams: The matchup with Indianapolis isn’t terribly daunting, but Stafford’s situation up front is very concerning. The Rams are down two offensive linemen, including their left tackle, and Stafford was under duress throughout the night in Monday’s loss to Cincinnati.
C.J. Stroud, Texans: The former Ohio State star has been a revelation for the Texans’ offense, leading them to an upset win over Jacksonville last week. But he’ll operate without both his starting offensive tackles this weekend – not ideal when facing T.J. Watt and the Steelers.
RB:
Starts:
Josh Jacobs, Raiders: Yes, the returns so far have not been great, but neither has the Chargers run defense. They got Alexander Mattison going last week. They should do wonders for Jacobs’ lackluster start this Sunday.
Zack Moss, Colts: Moss has taken control of the Colts’ backfield since coming back from an arm injury, dropping 122 yards and a score on the Ravens in last week’s upset win. This may be the last week you can use him, as Jonathan Taylor is scheduled to come off the PUP list next week.
Sits:
Gus Edwards, Ravens: Edwards returned to practice on Wednesday and appears good to go after being evaluated for a concussion during last week’s game. The Browns have been brutally stingy to running backs this year, holding Derrick Henry to 20 paltry yards last week.
Rachaad White, Buccaneers: He’s getting steady work in the Bucs’ backfield, but with the exception of a win over the bad news that is the Bears’ defense, he’s done precious little with it. It appears he’s going to be a start only against generous defenses, and the Saints don’t fit that bill.
WR:
Starts:
Tee Higgins, Bengals: It’s been a disappointing start for Higgins, but this week against the Titans presents a great opportunity for a breakout. Joe Burrow got through last week’s win over the Rams with no apparent setbacks, and Tennessee’s pass defense is among the worst in the league.
Courtland Sutton, Broncos: He’s scored in two of the first three weeks and commanded 11 targets last week. He should be Wilson’s top target against a highly suspect Chicago defense.
Sits:
Zay Flowers, Ravens: It’s not just the Browns’ run defense that has been stingy. They’ve given up the fewest pass yards in the league, as well. Flowers has been getting a solid dose of targets as a rookie and is quickly becoming a favorite of Lamar Jackson, but the opportunities may be more difficult to come by this week.
DeAndre Hopkins, Titans: He’s been nursing a sore ankle and he hasn’t been particularly productive when he’s on the field, failing to break 50 yards the last two weeks and having yet to score this season. The Titans’ offense seems one to avoid as a whole, except perhaps Derrick Henry, after mustering only 94 yards of total offense in last week’s loss to Cleveland.
TE:
As always in the wasteland that the tight end position has become, start whoever you can find that’s getting targets. Joining that group in the last couple weeks has been Detroit rookie Sam LaPorta, who will try to continue a hot start on Thursday night against Green Bay.
