Start your studs? You might want to think twice about these

Start your studs, they say. This time of year, if you’re still alive in the fantasy postseason, is no time to overthink your lineup.

Like anything else, however, even good advice has its limits. There are some so-called studs you might want to think twice about before setting your lineups this week. Some you may not have better options for, but there are several big-name players you should at least consider leaving on your bench this week:

Austin Ekeler, Chargers – This offense was a disaster last week without Justin Herbert and Ekeler’s production had already been spotty this season. It really wouldn’t be a shock at this point in the season if the Chargers give more work to Isaiah Spiller to see what they’ve got there.

Saquon Barkley, Giants – He got stuffed by the Saints last week and this week’s opponent, Philadelphia, allows the fewest fantasy points to running backs.

Keenan Allen, Chargers – Even if he’s healthy, counting on him in a game where his quarterback is Easton Stick seems like a long shot.

Terry McLaurin, Commanders – He’s got an unsettled quarterback situation and he’ll likely see a lot of Sauce Gardner. No thanks.

Bijan Robinson, Falcons – Yes, I recommended him last week and that was a huge whiff. At this point, I don’t see how you can trust him as long as Arthur Smith is still the head coach.

I’m not just going to give you the negatives, though. Here are some unsung players that might be on your bench, or even the wire, that might help your lineup this week:

Rashee Rice, Chiefs – He’s become Patrick Mahomes’ most trusted target not named Kelce. He’s scored in three of his last four games and has 64 or more yards in all four.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Seahawks – His role has been slowly growing in Seattle’s offense and, while DK Metcalf should continue to impress, JSN should get his share of opportunities against a porous Titans secondary as well.

Ty Chandler, Vikings – After exploding for 132 yards last week, he should retain the lead role in this backfield even if Alexander Mattison is healthy enough to return.

Chuba Hubbard, Panthers – He’s taken control of the Panthers backfield and it’s starting to pay off with fantasy points. He’s rushed for 87 or more yards in each of his last three games.
